Footprints

Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back a the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed you most you would leave me".
The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you".

Reality Show

So the other night while having family night, my sister Amy arrives and quickly rushes off to another room.............. why do I add this moment? I shall tell you very soon.

One thing about our family is that we enjoy to sing every now and then, whether seriously or for the hell of it, well this special family night was no different.

Usually when one us will hear a phrase that someone has said and it reminds us of a song, so we rattle of that one line and then the song ends there....

And then you get those moments where everybody just feels like singing and joining in.

This one special song was 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen, it started with one line, solitary and not thought much of, until someone decides to sing the next line, then the next line is picked up by another singer, and the chorus ensues, the harmony weaves itself in there, then comes the head banging.

This is where we laugh and get on with making dinner.

Now back to my sister Amy, she walks back into the room, after hearing our excellent, most random performance you can think of, and says, "I swear sometimes you'd think our family were on a reality t.v. show".

The End.

To Do
Well, I love writing lists... I know it's weird but I can't help myself, it provides a way to put all my thoughts, goal and wishes on to paper, and I also love to cross them out, makes me feel more proactive.

So my sister on her blog kyliepurtell.com has a 'Thirty by 30' list, whereby she has made a collection of 30 goals, both long and short term, for her too complete by the time she is thirty, which is only a few months away.

As I am 8 years younger then she, I think thirty by 30 would be a bit too far in the future for me, I'd like to keep it realistic and achievable, so being 21 already approaching my 22nd, I'm thinking I may do a '25 by 25'.

This should sound easy but it's rather hard to think of 25 things I would like to achieve, but I shall dig deep and develop some easy and long term goals I think are achievable.

I shall upload the list once it's completed so that everybody can keep me accountable and make sure I'm on track to achieving my goals!!!

My Reflection 1/4/12

1/4/12 My Reflection

The Civil Wars

Recently discovered a couple of awesome tunes by 'The Civil Wars'.

They released their first album, "Barton Hollow" in 2011.

They won Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Folk Album at the 2012 Grammy awards.

Stand outs on the album, 'Poison & Wine', 'My Father's Father', and 'Falling'.

Filled with lots of acoustic guitar riffs and lovely melodies, and sweet harmonies.

'The Civil Wars is made up of singer/songwriters Joy Williams and John Paul White.

I'd heard some good reviews from 'The Civil Wars' but it wasn't till I searched a song from Taylor Swift named 'Safe and Sound' also a good song, which they collaborate with Swift on the track, which is on 'The Hunger Games' soundtrack.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I have!!!

Casting Crowns

"People aren't confused by the gospel
They're confused by us
Jesus is the only way to God
But we are not the only way to Jesus
This world doesn't need my tie, my hoodie
My denomination or my translation of the bible
They just need Jesus
We can be passionate about what we believe
But we can't strap ourselves to the gospel
'Cause we're slowing it down
Jesus is going to save the world
But maybe the best thing we can do
Is just get out of the way"
